What Is the Minimum Order Quantity for Custom POS Terminals

When sourcing custom POS terminals via ODM or OEM services, MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) is one of the most frequently asked questions from global buyers.

Many customers expect a fixed number, but POS MOQ is not static. It heavily depends on how deep your customization requirements go. Light modifications allow lower quantities, while hardware‑level redesign requires higher minimum orders.

Below we break down typical MOQ ranges for different custom POS requirements.

Light Customization: Software & Component Adjustments

Light customization refers to changes based on our existing standard POS hardware chassis, without modifying circuit boards or physical housing.

Typical requests include:

  • Pre‑install your own APPs and system UI configuration
  • Adjust system language, default settings
  • Upgrade RAM, ROM storage for existing mainboard
  • Change battery capacity within compatible hardware limits

Since no hardware mold or new tooling work is needed, these are considered light‑level modifications.

MOQ: Usually starts from 5‑10 units.

This applies when you only need software configuration or compatible component swapping on the standard base model.

I/O Port and Interface Customization

Some projects require changing physical ports on the taixunpos POS device, such as adding RJ50, COM ports, adjusting USB interfaces or replacing card‑reader modules.

This type of customization falls into two scenarios:

  1. If the new port fits the existing mainboard and housing structure: only simple assembly adjustment is needed.
  2. If ports do not match existing layout: it will require mainboard revision or housing modification, which brings extra engineering cost.

MOQ: It depends heavily on the selected base chassis. If port changes fit the existing hardware design, MOQ can remain as low as 5 units. If new hardware redesign is required, a higher MOQ will apply.

OEM Logo & Branding Customization

Printing your brand logo on taixunpos POS housing is the most common OEM demand. Two mainstream solutions are available:

Silkscreen Screen‑Printing Logo

Silkscreen printing is cost‑effective for large‑batch orders. Printing screens need to be manufactured for your logo pattern.

MOQ: 50 units minimum.

Laser‑Etched Logo

Laser engraving burns logo onto plastic or metal shell without ink. No screen‑making fee, suitable for smaller batches.

MOQ: 10‑20 units minimum.

Note: Logo color effect is limited by the original housing material color. We will send you render previews before production.

Custom Packaging Requirements

Standard taixunpos machines come with our neutral factory cartons. If you need custom color boxes with your brand logo, artwork and manual localization, printing plate charges will occur.

MOQ: 100‑300 units, subject to carton artwork and printing setup.

Sample Order Option

We support sample orders for evaluation before mass production. Standard off‑the‑rack POS samples can be ordered in small quantities. For pre‑customized units, sample costs and lead‑time will be quoted separately according to your modification requirements.

Final Notes on POS Custom MOQ

There is no universal MOQ number for all custom POS ODM projects from taixunpos.

  • Software and light component upgrade: low MOQ
  • Port & hardware redesign: higher MOQ
  • Branded packaging: large‑batch MOQ requirement

If your quantity is below standard MOQ, you can consider laser logo on existing neutral units as a compromise solution.
